Atlanta

Post WWII and throughout the 1950s was a period of dramatic change in Atlanta. Soldiers were returning from war looking for work and new skills. African-American veterans who also bled for their country were returning and seeking rights which increased activism. Much of this activism spiked during the lead up to the 1956 Sugar Bowl. Following this event, Atlanta became a huge organizing center for the civil rights movement, with Martin Luther King Jr, Ralph David Abernathy, locals, and students.
